The Healing Nature of Sound
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the kidneys govern the winter months. These vital organs are represented externally on the human body by the ears. We use our ears in a commonplace way to hear everyday sounds and to listen and respond in normal daily situations. But sound is so much more, a powerful sense that often provokes a larger whole-body response. A positive word makes us light up and we feel it in our hearts, while negative words make our stomach hurt and we carry that sensation around in our gut.
Have you ever considered that we can improve our mental and physical health through the energy of sound? Is it possible that healing vibrations enter not only our ears but also the rest of our bodies, particularly our organs? The increasing popularity of sound baths and singing bowls along with the mass appeal of Gregorian chants and Enya’s lyrical sounds might tell us that we are inherently attuned to this type of healing.
Universal Frequencies
Hertz frequencies are vibrational sounds that resonate with the human body and nature. A hertz (Hz) measures cycles per second, so one hertz equals one cycle per second. The human ear can detect between 20 and 20,000 Hz. Most of the healing frequencies are in the range of 100-900 Hz. Do a quick YouTube search on any random number and a frequency with some attribute will pop up. There are many claims to healing on certain sound wavelengths and some of them when tested, do prove to be true. But none so much as the Solfeggio frequencies.
Discovered by an 11th century Benedictine monk, these frequencies were used to create a musical system based on tones. Found in both Sanskrit and Gregorian chants, Solfeggio frequencies were known to have healing properties. These sounds had vibrational resonances that the human body and nature recognized and welcomed. By the 16th century, this scale was lost and replaced by the 12-scale system used today. To some, it was a deliberate plot to hide the healing powers of these vibrational tones and replace them with a scale that suppressed emotions, stifled intuition and limited consciousness, contributing to the manifestation of fatigue, pain, stress and disease. What happened to these powerful healing sounds? Were they lost for all time?
Fortunately, they were not. In the 1970s, Dr. Joseph Puleo, a naturopathic herbalist, was divinely inspired to examine the Bible. Through his work, he revealed electromagnetic sound frequencies that were within the missing Solfeggio scale. Applying the Pythagorean method, he unearthed a repeating pattern of codes wherein the highs and lows of the sound waves were all divisible by 3, 6 or 9. This series of frequencies corresponded to the sung syllables UT, RE, MI, FA, SO, LA.
Solfeggio frequencies resonate in harmony with the earth and human electromagnetism (energy waves) and are mathematically consistent with the patterns of our universe. These frequencies are said to promote healing and well-being in the body. Interestingly, they resonate with the Sanskrit chakras, (energy centers in the body), and mimic natural light and the rate at which delta, theta, alpha, beta, and gamma brainwaves resonate throughout the day.
These tones help heal the body through relaxation that affects brain wave patterns, focus and meditation. Studies have shown that meditation slows the heart rate and allows the body to recover and rejuvenate in a parasympathetic state.
The Six Solfeggio frequencies
The universe is composed of energy and vibration. This includes the vastness of the planets and stars, right down to your own individual body and the energy enabling you to move, breathe and be. These musical frequencies align with the smallest and largest entities in our world.
396 Hz to Liberate Guilt and Fear
This is UT, the lowest frequency in the Solfeggio scale. Its power lies in the ability to lessen and even eliminate feelings of guilt and fear, allowing you to make goals and progress into the future.
417 Hz for Undoing Situations and Facilitating Change
RE is the frequency of change. Helping us to see with a new perspective, this tone can help us move away from negative memories and trauma into a time of renewal.
528 Hz for DNA repair, Associated with Transformation and Miracles
The tonal MI is arguably the most physically influential. This tone enables the miraculous transformation of DNA repair, with increased energy and clarity.
639 Hz for Connecting and Creating Relationships
The tone of peace and harmony, FA is a frequency of communication, respect and tolerance.
741 Hz to Express Yourself and Find Solutions
Free and easy expression and improved problem-solving can be found in the tone of SO. Emotional and physical health improve with openness and dedication.
852 Hz to Return to Spiritual Order
HA is the highest frequency and works with our higher consciousness. It allows us to connect with both ourselves and the universe.
Dr Puleo uncovered 3 more healing frequencies during his research that follow the pattern of the original Solfeggio frequencies.
Try listening to each of these tones until you find the one that calls to you—the vibrational frequency will literally resonate with your body and let you know what you need.
